In today’s world, sofas are essential part of any living room. These are more than seating arrangements. They create a relaxing environment. Sofas are furniture pieces that are specially designed to make people comfortable. Most of the sofas are three seater sofas. But there are two seater and four seater sofas as well. Traditional sofas had the luxurious satin like feel. The prints on such sofas were jacquard, and the arms were raised and curved outwards. The frame of these sofas was made from wood or metal, which would have some intricate carvings. These traditional sofas usually had visible legs, which also would be carved. Upholstery used in these sofas was usually quilted, and buttoned. Both leather and satin were used to make upholstery of such sofas. Today there are many varieties of sofas available for different types of homes, offices, restaurants, hotels, lounges, etc. Wooden, wicker, and cane sofas are ideal outdoor furniture items. Contemporary furniture like Italian designer sofas on the other hand blend well with wooden flooring. Designer lounge sofas have frames made of stainless steel. This makes them look very stylish. Upholstery is not much in such sofas, but it is enough to make the person sitting or lying on them feel comfortable. Lounge sofas also have gentle contours matching the shape of the human spine. Two single seating chairs, and a center table usually accompany conventional sofas. In such a set, two side tables, is also present. A more modern version of it has a single seat without any backrest, effectively allowing the person to turn towards whichever direction he or she wants to. Sofas are available for different types of interiors. Therefore, some sofas may be armless while others may have arms. There are L-shaped sofas as well. These are ideal in corners or places where unrestricted visibility is desired. Seats on the sofas may be clearly demarcated, or the upholstery may completely cover any such demarcation. There are modular sofas as well. These can be arranged in many different ways as per the room’s size and seating arrangements that are possible. For smaller homes, there are flip sofas with beds as well. Such flip sofas with bed are also available for toddlers. Likewise, a convertible sofa can become a seating arrangement in the daytime, and a bed during the nights.
